The Act of Food Safety and Standards Authority is implemented to regularize the food product of manufacture, storage, distribution, sale, and import, to ensure the availability for human consumption. The Central and State Government Authorities are jointly responsible for implementation and enforcement of FSSAI. Any one can apply FSSAI License with Central Government or State Governement. Wheras Restaurants Small food processing units will come under state license. Large food manufacturers, importers will be covered under Central License. FSSAI Registration is mandatory for Restaurants & Food processing unit. The Registration is enough till having the turnover of Rs.12 Laksh per annum. FSSAI License is must be obtained when exceeds the turn over of Rs.12 Lakhs per annum.
